The Kamatapur Autonomous Council is a statutory autonomous council established under the Kamatapur Autonomous Council Act, 2020 (Assam Act No. XXV of 2020), which received the assent of the Governor of Assam on 12 October 2020 and was published in the Assam Gazette on 19 October 2020. It is constituted for the Koch Rajbongshi community dominated villages of the districts of Goalpara, Dhubri, Bongaigaon and South Salmara, excluding the Bodoland Territorial Council and Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council areas.
